Plan
To take a music based view of the assignment. On location pictures will be taken at concerts and events, and studio shots will be taken with musicians or music fans in the studio.
A music photographer whose work is similar to mine is Brandon Lung- who photographs With confidence.
He tends to take a lot of shots from the photo pit in front of the stage that are natural shots of the band performing- here are some examples.

I got the chance to photograph With Confidence live at Sound Control in Manchester and my shots are similar to Brandons- with the only specific difference being that Brandon tends to full body shots/ mid shots of the band members whereas I take more close ups/mid shots. Taking inspiration from his work I took some long shots as well as usual mid/close up shots but did not like them as much.
Sound Control as a location worked well because the lights were softer than some venues and thus easily edited to make the picture a better colour.

The following shots are on location shots from think tank in Newcastle and include members of Room 94, Seasons, and Ryan Morrison. They were shot with my Canon 1300D DSLR . One of the large issues with concert photography is the lighting as it can be unpredictable and sometimes un-editable; So it is important to take lots of pictures when at a concert and therefore important to have spare memory cards on hand. As a location; in comparison to sound control, Think tank seems to have a lot harsher lighting system which makes pictures more difficult to edit and is why skin tones of some of the band members look purple, even after editing. As a result, Sound Control was a better location for my pictures, however if in the future I am to use Think Tank as a location; I will revise my camera settings to see if that can contribute towards achieving a better end result.

These studio shots were taken of music fans in a white background studio. The lighting in the studio was high-key so that the subject looked washed out. For this lighting to be achieved the setup required two studio lights at both sides of the subject; facing the subject. This shoot also required a light with a snoot on to graze across the hair of the subject; as a big focus was on the costume and hair of the shoot.

In post production a bleach bypass filter was added onto the photographs in post production to give them an 80's sort of feel to reflect the band merchandise that she is wearing(as kiss are a band popular in the 80's), and the makeup that she has on which is grungy.

The following studio shots were taken of musicians in a black background studio. A main light was used in front of the subjects to light the top half of their body and a light with a snoot on was used to graze the top of their guitars and light them up.
To edit these pictures in post production; I tried to darken the background but make the subjects stand out by increasing the contrast.
